Two plans can carry the same brand name and still behave differently. One is a seat on your own account. The other is access to a login several people use. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason a buyer is unhappy after delivery.
Personal account or invite
A personal plan is tied to your email. Chats, files and brand kits stay with you. This is the right choice when you handle client work, store prompts you do not want mixed with strangers, or need to keep the subscription after the first month.
You will usually receive an invite, an activation link, or login details for an account that was created for you. The product page states which of those you get.
Shared access
Shared access costs less because the seat is split. It can be fine for a student trying a tool for a week, or for a feature you only need occasionally. It is a poor fit if you upload private documents, connect your own Drive, or cannot tolerate someone else resetting the chat history.
Read the warranty on the plan before you pay. A warranty covers replacement when the access stops working. It does not turn a shared seat into a private one.
How to decide
- Client files, long projects, or a team brand kit: buy personal.
- A short trial of one feature: shared can be enough.
- If the page does not say "personal" or "your email", ask in live chat before you pay.

What each option looks like after delivery
| | Personal or your email | Shared access | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | History | Stays in your account | Can be cleared by someone else | | Files | Yours | Do not upload private work | | Price | Higher | Lower | | Warranty | Replaces a seat that stops | Replaces access, still shared | | Good for | Client work and long projects | A short trial |
A warranty is not a privacy upgrade
If a shared login dies inside the warranty window, support replaces access. The replacement is still shared. If you needed a private seat, order the personal plan. Say so in the ticket if the page you bought was unclear, and include the order number.
Frequently asked questions
Is a shared ChatGPT account safe?
It is safe enough for practice and public prompts. It is not safe for client contracts, ID scans, or a business inbox. Those belong on a personal seat.
Will Canva Brand Kit stay private on a shared seat?
No. A shared login means other people can open the same designs. Use an invite to your own email when the brand kit matters.
